My Picks for Spring 2011 Anime
Every season I go to my favorite site that lists out what everyone this season is subbing along with the TV Guide for Japan. This site is the Fansub Wiki, I used to use it very heavily back in the days when Sul and I were subbing anime under Nihonhut Fansubs. I usually get a pretty good feel about a show when I look at the offical website.
The things I look at are :
- Art Style
- Main Characters
- Setting
- Any Videos on the Site
After I’ve gone through the site for a little while I decide whether or not I would watch it. Ok, on to the anime I picked for this season.

Rift, When I first heard about this game it was said non-chalantly that it would be interesting to play. That person was right about it being interesting to play, however they weren’t correct when they brushed it off as not being better than the game we were currently playing, World of Warcraft. Through the years I have played nearly every mainstream MMO under the sun,( EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, Everquest 2, Final Fantasy XI, WoW, Final Fantasy XIV, Aion,Vanguard, Age of Conan, and the list goes on), but this one was different, something about it felt…right.
After I found out about RIFT I only wanted to know more, in fact I HAD to know more. In my research I found out that RIFT had been in development for 5 years, which made me think that this game would fail since they would be massively behind the times. However, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The game was the most polished complete game I’ve ever played in a beta event.
So far I’ve only gotten to experience the awesomeness of RIFT in the beta events 4, 5, 6, and the Open BETA. Immediately when you load up the game the cinematics blow you away. It seems the story is based on the events that happen following the apocalypse, when Regulos opens a rift to the elemental planes of the dragons which in turn kills every warrior who is battling the evil Regulos. These warriors could never have stood a chance with the powers they currently had. However, all was not lost. The Gods did not take a liking to the deaths of their children, so they raised them into ascension.

If you have been on the forums lately or talk to me in vent you probably have figured out one way or another that I am absolutely bonkers about audio, especially headphones. Audiophiles in the past have been looked upon as pretty crazy to spend X amount of money on something that just reproduces sound…especially when it is as small as those portable ear-buds you have seen. That was then, this is now. Audio enthusiasts have started to show themselves in the world today. Just like anime otakus (maybe not so creepy though) and the like it has rapidly spread in huge numbers this last decade. You may not know it but there are even swap meets and conventions all over US in particular. CanJam for instance pulls in attendance numbers more like a Foo Fighters concert than a swap meet. Enough about the hobby, lets take a look at who Fischer Audio is and their new Flagship IEM, the DBA-02.

For those who are unfamiliar with Portal (I doubt there are many), it is a first-person action/puzzle video game developed by Valve, released in October 2007. The game involves the player, called Chell, solving a variety of puzzles by teleporting, using the portal gun to open up portals (hence the name). The game is popular for its dark humour, unique gameplay, intricate puzzles and unforgettable AI antagonist known as GLaDOS, who promises cake when the puzzles are finished. By navigating through the two portals (coloured orange and blue), Chell is able to travel to various different parts of the same room and depending on the orientation and location of the wall/floor/ceiling on which the other portal is placed, the player can be launched over great distances horizontally or vertically.
